On this beautiful 60 km loop, you ride around the picturesque Karkloof Nature Reserve. The route takes you trough midlands farmland with beautiful, rolling hills and up to the summit of Lebanon.
After a few kilometres turn right (this is the first road on your right) Keep following this road. Keep left at the split. Most of the route is very quiet, and it has only 8km of tar road.
On top of Lebanon take sharp left
After a nice long climb up to Lebanon you arrive a kind of plateau, follow the road till you can turn left. It's just before the forestry starts.
When you arrive at open space on your left, the road goes left but we go straight and start with the climb to the top of lebanon.
At the foot of Kyberpass keep right
After a couple of kilometers you will see the road going left. This is Kyberpass. Keep right / go straight.
At the four-way crossing continue straight and follow this road for a couple of kilometres.
Turn right on to Gravel
From the Karkloof road you turn right towards Curry's post road. This road start with a short climb towards a cellphone tower.
You will find a gate blocking the road. Next to it you find a pedestrian gate which you can unlock. Continue straight on this road. Keep left till you get to the second gate. Go left. Close the gates!
After the bridge
Just after the bridge you will have the opportunity to go straight or right. Both options are fine as they end up on the same road.
Left and Right
After you have rode the straight open gravel road take, just before some houses (on your right) the road on your left. After the gate posts turn right.
Keep right at the fork
At the y keep right towards Karkloof. You will have a long down hill ahead.
Turn left. This is the start of Kyberpass a 3 km climb with some steep sections
A short very steep climb....For when you started at Barn owl or Terbodore this is the last steep climb.
This road used to be open for the public but crosses since a couple of years Tillietudlem, a private nature reserve. Please inform the manager beforehand so he can make sure you can leave the reserve via an unlocked gate.
When you come out of the gate of Tillietudlem nature reserve you will continue on the tar road towards Boston. This road is mainly down hill which makes it quick and easy.
Turn left on to Gravel
Just a couple of hundred metres after Thumble Downs Cafe you turn left towards Karkloof. From here you leave the tar and enter the Gravel road.
You can extend the route here
If you are keen to ride a bit longer you can turn right here. You will come out on the Tar road opposite the Karkloof Country club. Turn left and after a couple of kilometres turn left again towards Curry's post road. You will pick up the route again a bit further down this gravel road.
Off the Karkloof Tar road, you get some .. km of nice gravel road trough pristine midlands farmland. It’s never completely flat, but the hills are relatively short, and you will be rewarded with breath-taking views of the Karkoof Nature Reserve along the way.
After the nice short hills you start a … climb to the top of Lebanon. You will definitely find some steep sections, especially near the end, but I enjoy this climb as the hairpins remind me of climbs in the Tour de France. At the top you will be greeted with amazing views of the valley, and will ride trough indigenous forest.
When you exit the gate, you will find yourself on a plateau with a great view of the Gilboa Mountain. There is a bit of climbing to do here, in order to reach the top, where you enter a forestry area will a long flat gravel road
From the plateau you will descend for …km, past Mbona Nature reserve and the .. falls, to the Karkloof Road. This downhill is fast and can be relatively busy, so be careful in the blind turns.
